PERFORMANCE TESTING
Our experienced field teams conduct performance testing for code compliance, prevent delays, and support successful project delivery.
Utilize Performance Testing to Verify and Optimize Building Performance
A building that performs on paper must be verified in the field. Conducting performance testing confirms that every energy-consuming system is installed and operating as designed to protect owners from post-occupancy issues, compliance penalties, and the operational costs that follow when systems are left unverified.
For projects pursuing green building certification, our performance testing services meet LEED®, ENERGY STAR®, and CALGreen documentation requirements, eliminating redundant field work and keeping the certification process on schedule. From the first site observation through final sign-off, we manage every step so the design team and owner can stay focused on delivery.
Focus Areas
HERS / ECC Testing
Energy Code Compliance (ECC), previously the HERS index, requires a certified Energy Code Compliance Rater to perform field verification and diagnostic tests to confirm that energy systems are performing as they need to be. Our HERS Raters can help you with:
- Duct Leakage Testing
- Envelope Leakage (Blower Door) Testing
- Quality Insulation Installation (QII)
- Refrigerant Charge and Airflow (RCA)
- Fan Efficacy (Watt Draw)
- Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) Verification
- Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Fan Testing
- Rebate and Tax Incentive Verification
- Existing building verification of installed systems
Acceptance Testing
Acceptance testing is the process of ensuring that HVAC systems and lighting systems are tested for compliance with Title 24 and meeting their expected energy savings or human health benefits. VCA Green specializes in two forms of acceptance testing as a qualified third party: lighting controls, and garage exhaust fan controls. Both of these systems must be tested for compliance with the California Energy Code, and when performed by a third party, these systems can save energy, protect your building’s occupants, and reduce any delays in gaining a Certificate of Occupancy.
