Last week, VCA Green spoke at the California Association of Building Energy Consultants (CABEC) conference to present the 2016 Residential updates to the California Building Energy Code, and how projects will be impacted by The State’s Zero Net Energy update to the 2019 Energy code.

Moe Fakih, Vice President, and Glen Folland, Associate Director, both spoke during their time at the conference and discussed how the various changes to the latest CALGreen standards have affected the green building industry. Examples include:

• How to comply with Title 24 under the new standards,
• How these changes impact energy models,
• What other kinds of legislation are driving changes in the California building industry,
• Lessons learned during design and construction.

This presentation was designed to inform homeowners, developers, designers, architects, engineers and other building practitioners about not only the current California building sector, but how the industry is evolving to accommodate more extreme standards, namely Zero Net Energy. Moe and Glen taught attendees how to prepare for these future changes and address new measures in design phases of building and construction specifications.
